Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Assistant Manager?

+
The Assistant Manager is an AI-powered tool for Fantasy Premier League managers. It analyses fixtures, expected points, injury news, and underlying stats for every Premier League player every gameweek, then gives you clear recommendations for your captain, transfers, bench order, and lineup. It's designed to give you the edge of elite managers without the hours of research.

Is it really free?

+
Yes. You can create an account, connect your FPL team, and start getting recommendations without paying anything. No credit card is required to get started. Some advanced features may require a premium plan in the future, but the core functionality is free.

How accurate are the predictions?

+
Our expected points (xP) model predicts each player's return for each upcoming fixture based on fixture difficulty, form, underlying stats (xG, xA), injury status, and minutes reliability. Like all predictive models in football, individual predictions aren't guaranteed — football has genuine randomness — but the model is tuned to maximise expected points over a full season. In practice, following the model's recommendations has delivered top 0.5% finishes in consecutive seasons.

What FPL data do you use?

+
We use the official Fantasy Premier League public API for team, player, and fixture data. On top of that, we incorporate expected goals (xG), expected assists (xA), shots on target, minutes reliability, set-piece roles, penalty-taker data, and injury news from publicly available sources. None of this is private or paywalled data.

Do I need to give you my FPL password?

+
No. We only need your public FPL Team ID — a number you can find on the FPL website under your Points tab. The Team ID gives us read-only access to your squad through the public FPL API. We never ask for your FPL password, and we can't make any changes to your team on your behalf.

How do I find my FPL Team ID?

+
Log into the official Fantasy Premier League website and click the Points tab at the top. Your Team ID is the number shown in the URL after /entry/. For example, in fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/1234567/event/32, the Team ID is 1234567.

What happens to my data?

+
We store only what's needed to deliver the Service — your email, a hashed password, and your Team ID. We don't sell your data to third parties. We use Google Analytics to understand site usage (with your consent) and Google AdSense to serve ads (also with your consent). For the full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Can I cancel or delete my account?

+
Yes. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by DMing us on X at @the_assist_man. We'll action the request as soon as possible.

Do I still make the final decisions?

+
Absolutely. The Assistant Manager recommends — you decide. Every suggestion is something you can accept, tweak, or ignore. The tool is there to do the analysis you don't have time for, not to take the fun out of managing your team. You're still the gaffer.

Does The Assistant Manager work on mobile?

+
Yes — the website is fully responsive and works in any modern mobile browser. You can check your recommendations, swap your captain, or look at Ownership Alerts from your phone any time.

Are you affiliated with the Premier League or FPL?

+
No. The Assistant Manager is an independent service. We're not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Premier League, Fantasy Premier League, or their operators. We just use the publicly available data to help managers make better decisions.

How often are the recommendations updated?

+
Expected points, fixtures, and injury data refresh regularly throughout each gameweek. We make sure the recommendations reflect the most recent news and press conferences before every deadline so you're never acting on out-of-date information.

I've got a feature idea or feedback — how do I share it?

+
We love feedback. DM us on X at @the_assist_man or use our Contact page. Most of the tool's improvements come from manager suggestions.
