Why The Assistant Manager Exists
Fantasy Premier League is a game of details. The managers who finish near the top of their mini-leagues — or even the overall rankings — aren't necessarily luckier than everyone else. They've usually spent hours every week reading injury news, studying expected goals data, comparing fixtures, and second-guessing their captain pick.
Most of us don't have that kind of time. Between work, family, and everything else life throws at us, the realistic amount of time we can spend on FPL is often measured in minutes, not hours. And yet we still want to do well.
That's the gap The Assistant Manager was built to close. It's a tool that does the research, watches the injury news, crunches the data, and gives you clear, confident recommendations every gameweek — so you can make great FPL decisions in the time it takes to drink your morning coffee.
How It Started
The Assistant Manager started as a personal project. I've played Fantasy Premier League every single season since 2008 — so I know the game inside out. But like most long-time FPL managers, I found myself making rushed, gut-feel decisions because I simply didn't have the time to properly research every transfer, captain call, or bench order.
So I built a tool for myself — one that could analyse the data I didn't have time to look at, flag the injuries I might miss, and recommend the transfers that actually moved the needle on expected points. The difference it made to my own team's performance was dramatic.
It worked so well that it felt wrong to keep it to myself. The Assistant Manager is now publicly available so other FPL managers — especially the ones balancing the game with the rest of their lives — can benefit from the same edge.
Does It Actually Work?
Using this tool for my own team has delivered my best ever FPL finishes — top 0.5% of the world two seasons running, and on course to do it again this season.
